The Dukeries Singers

by | 13 November 2020 | Hobbies, Music

One of my favourite (although a bit despondent) quotations by Thomas Hood for November is: “No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees no fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds – November” and I am convinced that a (very) late Indian summer is out of the question. However, the sun is shining as I write and the pots of winter pansies are so astonishingly cheerful that you have to smile back at them!
I hope you have managed to get your autumn / winter garden tidying complete. My good intentions are always impeccable, but I’m afraid spring will find me still topping up the compost bins with debris.
The Dukeries Singers’ Zoom Beetle Drives on Wednesdays are continuing, but no virtual or actual choir rehearsals are planned as yet. I have overheard a few solo voices locally during some lovely autumn days and I would encourage everyone to sing, hum or warble to raise the spirits in these continuing uncertain times. The choir is so missing the fun and friendship we always find when meeting up together.
However, we can be seen on You Tube, Twitter, Facebook and on our website at www.thedukeriessingers.com. We also have an email address: thedukeriessingers@gmail.com.
Optimistically, and looking forward to a brighter future, our Concert Secretary, Margaret, may be contacted on 01623 642464 or 07896 491314.
A peaceful and not too noisy November to you all.
Jan
