The Dukeries Singers

Welcome to January and a new year. As I write, nasty grey clouds are scudding across a windy landscape, tempting one to put feet up and have a hot chocolate to hand! No chance! The Dukeries Singers return to choir practise after the holiday period, the Christmas music will be packed away and a new programme of music will be rehearsed ready for their concerts throughout the year.

It is a mixed voice choir, singing in three or four parts. We would like more men to join us. Their voices in the lower vocal parts add so much depth and richness to our sound. If you have enjoyed singing before in a choir and would like to do so again, give us a try and see if it is for you. Information about the choir can be found at We are also on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. We practise every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm until 9.000pm in the Concert Hall at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton. This is best accessed via the Leisure Centre entrance and car park.

If you wish to book the choir for your celebration, anniversary, fundraising or charity event, please contact our secretary, Pauline, on 07951 609217. She would be delighted to hear from you. Singing together is good for ‘mindfulness’. It should really be on prescription! A very happy and harmonious year to all from The Dukeries Singers.
