The Dukeries Singers

To paraphrase a (quite old) popular song, “What a difference a month makes”. From struggling to keep the essentials watered, we are now firmly fixed in the season of ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’, clearing out the greenhouse, lifting taters, chucking out or cutting back the old plants and filling pots and borders with winter pansies and bulbs.

The Dukeries Singers is also in mellow mode with preparations for Christmas well under way. The choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.00pm in the Concert Hall at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton. This is best accessed via the Leisure Centre entrance and car park.
Our concert bookings so far are:

  • 29th November — Singing in Edwinstowe High Street at the turning on of the Christmas Lights, at 5.00pm
  • 8th December — Our Annual Christmas Concert at the Jubilee Hall, Ollerton, at 7.00pm
  • 21st December — Singing at the Masonic Hall, Mansfield, at 6.15pm

We also have, as yet, unconfirmed engagements on the gallop up to Christmas. So, if you would like the choir to help you celebrate your own Christmas, charity, fundraising event or just ‘a bit of a do’, our Concert Secretary Phil, on 01623 822070, would be delighted to hear from you.
