Retford Community Singers

Retford Community Singers open their doors again on Tuesday 4th September, from 7.30pm to 9.15pm at St Joseph’s Church Hall, Babworth Road, Retford DN22 7PB. People who have never experienced harmony singing or who have not sung for a long time are especially welcome to join this established group of enthusiasts who love beautiful unaccompanied harmony singing. No previous experience is required as everything is taught by ear, a method that can be refreshingly liberating to singers who are used to reading music, too.

The choir is led by singer-songwriter, Janet Wood, who can be inspired by dance rhythms, folk and gospel, political issues such as Votes for Women or war and peace and much more — it’s highly varied and all uplifting.
The group welcomes all men and women who would like to be part of a large and friendly group with the emphasis on singing for pleasure rather than polished performances. Note, there is medical evidence that singing is good for reducing stress, too!

No need to book — just turn up and enjoy. The cost is £4.00 per session (£2.00 if on means tested benefits). There is free parking around the church. For further information about the choir, call 01777 704038 or 01777 704154 or see www.retfordcommunitysingers.co.uk.
