Bluebell Wood has begun the year with great support from the people of Retford. The charity’s Retford Support Group would like to acknowledge the help of Morrisons in allowing them to collect in their store in February, raising over £800 towards the £13,325 needed every day to keep the hospice open to all who need their services.
On 1st March the group provided the refreshments for the Open Gardens at Bolham Manor, when they were blessed with blue skies and warm sun; the sale of hearty soup, cakes, tea and coffee raised a further £450. They also held their popular quiz earlier this year.
Public support for Bluebell Wood is essential as only 9% comes from the Government; they are very proud to say that they received a rating of ‘Outstanding’ for being a caring service in their most recent inspection undertaken by the Care Quality Commission. Your support allows Bluebell Wood to provide respite and short breaks for families with complex needs, they support siblings and young adults up to the age of 25 and continue to support through, and after, end of life, to help families through the grieving process. Many families remain part of the hospice for years after the loss of their child.
As a local support group raising funds for this amazing organisation, members would like to thank you all for your continued support at their events and if you would like to join the small band to help them raise even more, please call Lesley on 01777 709835 for more information.
