Monthly Tabletop Gaming Day
Saturday 18th May, 10.00am to 3.00pm
Calling all gamers! Retford Library is inviting you to attend a new style of board gaming. These games come from all over the world and have a different style and playability than the more traditional board.Don’t worry if you have never played a tabletop game before, staff are on hand to show you how to start. At this free drop-in, there are also have games suitable for families and for adult gamers of all different ages and experience. Tabletop gaming is becoming one of the more popular styles of gaming all over the country, so if you want to play a game that’s a little different from your normal board gaming experience then please come and join us.

Book Launch — ‘All the Write Pieces’
Thursday 9th May, 6.00pm
Join the members of Retford Library’s Writing Group as they celebrate the launch of their first collection. Listen to extracts from the book and chat to the contributors over a glass of wine and nibbles. Signed copies of ‘All the Write Pieces’ will be available to buy. Tickets cost £2.00, to include refreshments. Booking is advised.

Poetry Café — Victorian Poets (in celebration of Queen Victoria’s 200th birthday)
Monday 20th May, 2.00pm to 3.30pm
Join the library’s informal Poetry Café for a relaxing afternoon of poetry. Bring along a favourite poem by a Victorian poet to share or simply enjoy listening to others. Tickets cost £1.00 to include refreshments. Booking is advised.

Writers’ Group
Thursday 9th and 23rd May, 2.00pm to 4.00pm

Craft and Coffee Club
Wednesday 1st, 15th and 29th May, 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Bring along your project, swap ideas, patterns and materials over a coffee — the cost is 50p for refreshments.

Family History Group
Monday 13th May, 5.00pm to 7.00pm
Library facilities, including the local studies rooms and free computer access to the Ancestry website are also available.

Local and Family History Drop-In Surgery
Thursday 16th May, 10.00am to 1.00pm
Need advice about family or local history? A local studies librarian will be on hand.

Rattle, Rhyme and Roll
Every Wednesday and Friday, 10.00am to 10.20am
Songs, rhymes and musical instruments for babies and toddlers.

If you are unable to visit your local library we can arrange for books to be brought to you. A friendly Royal Volunteer Service volunteer can bring a selection of books and talking books to you, in your own home.
Many other services are available at the library. Free access to research, Ancestry, British Newspaper Archive and Which? is available on library PCs. Free printing is also available for homework. Please ask for details.
