The Retford and District Scottish Country Dance Society has started another season of dancing. They meet on Tuesday evenings in the dance studio at Retford Oaks Academy from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. There are three types of dance — jigs and reels, which are quite lively, and the more sedate strathspey, all of which they dance each week.
They are a mixed ability group of all ages, and beginners and experienced dancers are very welcome to join. You don’t need to take a partner as they all mix around; just a pair of comfortable shoes and most important of all, a sense of humour. So, if you are looking for something to do which involves gentle exercise of the body and mind, a chat and a laugh, then look no further.
To find out more about the Retford Branch, contact secretary Bill Barratt, on 01777 705182 or bill@vanessab.plus.com or see www.retfordscottishdance.orgfree.com — or better still just go along on Tuesday evenings at Retford Oaks Academy, you will be most welcome.
