Dukeries Woodturning Society

Following a successful move to the Jubilee Hall in Ollerton at this time last year, the Dukeries Woodturning Society has gone from strength to strength. Despite larger numbers attending, the much better layout enables everyone to have a good view. Imaginative use of video gives everyone a close-up view on a screen of what is happening.

On 23rd January, the group will hold its AGM. Popular vendor Steve Wright will be on hand with wood for members to buy, alongside Pat Murphy with tools, sandpapers and finishing compounds — everything you could possibly need to carry out those New Year’s Resolutions. Members meet monthly at 7.00pm on the fourth Wednesday until November with a professional demonstrator and visits from Steve and Pat. They have a new quarterly programme of hands on evenings, also on Wednesdays.

For all this, membership costs just £15.00 a calendar year so members please bring yours along. The nightly fee is £5.00 including refreshments. Visitors are welcome and the first visit is free. Members hope you will come and see what they have to offer at this popular and friendly club where members are very willing to help each other with their turning problems. Please just turn up or for further information call Gordon Fisher on 01623 464986.
