Dukeries Wood Turning Society

by | 15 October 2019 | Hobbies

Dukeries Wood Turning Society is coming towards the end of this membership year. The November meeting will be the last for 2018 as in December the committee feels that people will have other social events around 26th! The November demonstrator is Gerry Marlow.

If you have not been before, it is a great opportunity to use your first-time free attendance to come along and meet members, then make a New Year Resolution to come and join in January 2019.

The society meets at the Jubilee Hall, Ollerton on the fourth Wednesday of the month between 7.00pm and 10.00pm. Membership costs £15.00 a year, with a £5.00 a time attendance fee to cover the cost of refreshments, rent, demonstrator fee and mileage. The group attracts demonstrators from a wide area, with many of them travelling over an hour, so you have a local opportunity to see the best professionals at work.

To give you an unobstructed view of the lathe the society uses its two-camera video system zoomed in to show close ups of the work in progress on a screen. Everyone has a turner’s eye view. Refreshments are served in the break. There are stalls selling everything from wood to tools and products for finishing your work. The group looks forward to seeing members old and new on 28th November.

You are welcome to join members any month at The Jubilee Hall, Wellow Road, Ollerton on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.00pm.
