INDUSTRIAL RETFORD
A talk by local author and historian Harry Foxley

Having been a market town for six centuries, Retford embraced the industrial revolution in the 19th century with a plethora of manufactories to include iron and brass foundries; engineering works; brick and tile works; coachworks; rubber works; rope works; sack-cloth and sail-making and a host of supporting industry. In his talk, Harry Foxley describes the rise and demise of all but a single survivor in the 21st century. Tickets cost £1.00, to include refreshments. Booking is essential.

Calling all gamers! Retford Library is inviting you to attend a new style of board gaming. These games come from all over the world and have a different style and playability than the more traditional board. Don’t worry if you have never played a Tabletop game before, staff are on hand to show you how to start. They also have games suitable for families and for adult gamers of all different ages and experience. Tabletop gaming is becoming one of the more popular styles of gaming all over the country, so if you want to play a game that’s a little different from your normal board gaming experience then please come and join us.
Crime Rhyme and Cocktails
A special summer evening of words presented by the Poetry and Crime Cafés

Join Retford Library staff for a relaxing evening of poetry and words with a slightly darker theme. Bring a poem or short extract to share or simply come along to listen and enjoy. A summer cocktail and nibbles are included in the ticket price of £2.00. Booking is advised.
