Retford and District Historical and Archaeological Society have enjoyed a variety of speakers over the first half of the 2018-2019 lecture programme. In September, Judith Mills gave a talk on Nottingham’s Historic Green Spaces, Mike Ogden then transported them to A Place by a River (The Palace of Westminster), Adrian Gray brought them back to Nottinghamshire with scandal within well known estates, Newstead Abbey, Rufford Abbey, Clumber Park and Welbeck. Malcolm Dolby gave a talk on Worksop Manor (Nottinghamshire’s Lost Palace).

The committee hope that all the members and visitors had a good Christmas and wish you a good New Year. On Wednesday 13th February Derek Adlam will give a talk with a visual presentation on The Portland Collection. The society meet as usual at 7.30pm at Chapelgate Hall, situated behind Grove Street Methodist Church. They welcome new members and visitors.
