Milton Mausoleum

by | 14 May 2019 | Community Event, Heritage

The Friends of Milton Mausoleum would like to invite you to call in any Sunday when the mausoleum is open between May and September from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Visit and speak to the volunteers who will be pleased to show you around and give you an insight into the lives of the 4th Duke of Newcastle and his wife Lady Georgiana who lived at Clumber Park.

The volunteers are also available to speak to your groups, with prior arrangement, on any day of the week. They have spoken to history groups, family researchers, U3A members and local history groups. Contact them for further details.
This year they are celebrating 50 years of The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), the national charity protecting historic churches at risk. Milton Mausoleum ceased to be used for regular worship in 1949, and has been in the care of the CCT since 1969. There are 353 English churches in their care, the 353rd was St Peter’s at Gamston near Retford. The Milton committee has been asked to join in the celebrations and they have organised the following events:
