Clarborough and Welham IT Group

by | 15 August 2019 | Education and Learning

Classes for the last five-week block before Clarborough and Welham IT Group’s usual August holiday break start week commencing 18th June. So, if you like a relaxed, friendly, flow of good humour mixed with your computing, come and join the group — some members have been coming for years!

Registers fill pretty quickly, so please reserve your place as soon as possible. Classes are aimed at everyone from absolute beginners to ‘seasoned’ individuals. Bring your own laptop or use one of the group’s Windows 10 machines — free wi-fi is available in all classes.

The group is also keen for volunteers to join their current team. It’s worth noting that volunteering is a good route back into employment for anyone who has been out of that for a while.

Classes open with a ‘gardeners’ question time’, which provides members with opportunities to drive lessons in areas that they want. The group provides worksheets/lesson plans but is keen to deliver what members want. Recent topics have covered areas such as basic filing skills, word processing experience and hint-and-tips through to image editing, and online research and purchasing. You name it, the volunteers try to provide it!

Classes take place in Clarborough Village Hall, a couple of miles north of Retford on the A620 towards Gainsborough. The hall has modern facilities, easy access and has ample car parking to the rear. Entrance is directly opposite the Kings Arms on Main Street. Classes are on either Tuesday afternoons (from 1.30pm to 3.00pm) or Wednesday mornings (from 10.00am to 11.30am) in five-week blocks. Fees are just £15.00 for each block and include installing a range of free, open-source, applications such as LibreOffice or OpenOffice and Gimp image editor.
