Retford Bowling Green’s open day on 6th June was yet again a great success. The following four Saturdays also saw a regular turnout of prospective bowling members attending the free coaching sessions. Given the fact that we were still under COVID-19 restrictions, this was much better than had been expected.
In the end, 17 new bowling members joined the club, bringing the total number of bowling members to 107! This is an astounding situation, given that during the pandemic other clubs have struggled to retain members. Thanks must go to the many members who turned out to welcome the newcomers and to provide information and refreshments. Special mention must go to coach Joan Mather and her team: Millie Satchell, George Barlow, Bob Bagshaw and Jim Dukes. These four have just become Level 2 Club Coaches.
Restrictions also meant that the club’s AGM, originally scheduled for March 2020, had to be delayed and finally took place on 22nd July. At last, the club could start to move forward again in as near normal manner as possible. There are quite a few new faces among the committee members and the directors of the club.
