Villagers in Eaton are delighted to have secured three more grants to move them closer to achieving their goal of creating a community hub. With no village hall, pub or other indoor social space, the community has been fundraising for the past six years to add an accessible toilet and kitchenette to All Saints Church. With some of the pews also removed, this will enable the building to be used for activities and events by the local community and the many visitors to Eaton whilst still being used for worship.
The grants include £7,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, £2,500 from The Beatrice Laing Trust and £500 from The Jessie Spencer Trust. Added to the grants and donations already in place for the project, the community just has another £2,000 left to raise and hopes to be able to start the building work in early autumn.
In order to raise further funds, there will be a garden party at West Winds, the house opposite Eaton church, from 2.00pm to 5.00pm on Saturday 25th September with cakes and refreshments, a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac stall, preserves stall, and games for all the family.
If you are unable to attend the garden party but would like to donate, visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/eatonallsaints or contact Lucy Vernon at lucyvernon@hotmail.co.uk or 07979 016920.
