Started in 2003, when a few novice gardeners in North Wheatley decided they wanted to find out more about gardening, 18 years later the Clays Horticultural Society are still going strong with a very healthy membership of gardeners and non-gardeners alike.
Sadly, due to the pandemic, they have not met for a while but they are now ready to bloom once again and are commencing their 2021-22 programme with a meeting at North Wheatley Village Hall on 20th September at 7.00pm.
Their programme is varied and some of this year’s talks include topics on Vegetable Growing, Happy House Plants, Perennials, Ornamental Grasses, Weeds – why are they so successful, The World of Owls and Gardening 60 Years Ago
Besides their monthly meetings, they have visits to gardens of interest and most years a garden inspired coach holiday of four days, plus occasional social events. For the 2021-22 year they will not be charging the annual membership fee of £10.00, but there will be a meeting cost of £2.00 to cover refreshments.
They are really looking forward to getting together again and welcome old and new members to join them on 20th September. Please contact Christine Crowther on 01427 884884 for more details.
