The Friends of Headon Church will be celebrating 855 years since documented evidence first confirmed the existence of St Peter’s Church in Headon. It is likely that a place of worship stood on the site even earlier.
To mark the occasion, a flower festival will run their Celebration Weekend from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th May, alongside an exhibition exploring the history of the church and highlighting its most important features.
On Saturday 16th May, local historian Adrian Gray will give a free illustrated talk titled Secret Bassetlaw at 7.00pm. The weekend will conclude on Sunday 17th May with a concert by The Lydian Choir at 6.00pm. Tickets for the concert are £10.00 and will be available on the door.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend the celebrations. Refreshments will be available on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and the church will be open throughout each day, allowing visitors to drop in at any time.
