The popular Lunchtime Organ Music at St Swithun’s Church in Retford has started again after the silence of last year enforced by that well-known virus. The organ is in good condition apart from its lack of use, which it did not like.
However, Colin Walsh, the internationally famous Organist Emeritus of Lincoln Cathedral was booked to play at the end of August and this was the beginning of the new series of Lunchtime Organ Music.
This will be followed on Thursday 9th September at 1.00pm by Michael Overbury, a fine freelance musician, and on Thursday 23rd September at 1.00pm by John Keys, who is another organist of international fame and is organist of Nottingham University, Nottingham City organist, Director of music at St Mary’s Church Nottingham and can manage to find time for us at Retford. Don’t miss it! A light lunch is served from 12.30pm.
There will be more organ music to come on Friday 8th October and Thursday 28th October. Admission is free on all of these occasions, but donations are welcome because these wonderful instruments are expensive to maintain.
