There was great excitement amongst the Ladies’ Silver Team from Retford Golf Club, when two of them scored eagles at an away match at Beeston Fields Golf Club. An eagle is when someone scores two less than the expected score for a hole. We often see the professionals achieve eagles, but this is a very rare occurrence for the ladies from Retford.
Karen Pollard scored her eagle, on a par 4, when she holed her second shot with a 7 wood from 140 yards. It must have felt like a ‘hole in one’. Anne Jordan landed her eagle, again on a par 4, where she again holed her second shot with a 9 iron from 90 yards. Both players won their matches, helping the team to an away win on the day. This success has been followed up by Keran Hutchinson, recently scoring a hole in one on the fourth hole at Retford Golf Club.
Retford’s ladies go from strength to strength. It has been particularly pleasing to welcome three new lady members to the club this month. Retford has a very sociable ladies section and is excited about supporting ladies wishing to take up golf. Find out more at www.retfordgolfclub.co.uk.
