Flower and Produce Show
On Saturday 1st September, Ordsall will again be awash with marrows, dahlias and scones as the second annual Ordsall Parish Flower and Produce Show takes place in the hall on Church Lane.
Last year’s re-imagining of a traditional Produce Show was enjoyed by many and the show’s organiser, Mr Kane Marsh, received great applause for his efforts to encourage local people of all ages to have a go. This year there will again be classes for home grown produce, baking and also fun competitions for children. For a copy of the show schedule please contact Kane on 01777 701837.
The great day starts early at 7.00am for exhibitors to stage their produce, judging commences at 10.30am before the hall is opened to the public at 12.00pm. The Salvation Army Band will be playing at 1.00pm before the presentation of awards at 4.00pm, which will be followed by an auction of most of the produce.

Scarecrow Festival
The ‘Ancient’ Ordsall Parish Scarecrow Festival will be held over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September. This year marks the 10th year that Ordsall has had a Scarecrow Festival and organisers are expecting it to be the biggest and best yet!
To find all of the scarecrows and to vote for the winner of the ‘most popular scarecrow’ trophies, you will need a festival map. These will be on sale from the end of August and will help you spot all of the very many scarecrows entered in this year’s festival. Keep an eye out for the distinctive gold maps in local shops and pubs and also at Retford Leisure Centre.
Every year the festival has raised funds for the Parish Hall on Church Lane, and 2018 is no exception. The heating system in the hall is in need of a new boiler so all of the proceeds from this year’s festival will help to keep the hall warm and dry for all of the local groups that use it throughout the year.
