The Friends of Daneshill Lakes fourth annual Open Day takes place on Sunday 1st October from 10.00am to 3.30pm at the Daneshill Lakes Local Nature Reserve off Daneshill Road, just outside Torworth.

There will be opportunities to see little birds such as Blue Tits up close with a bird ringing demonstration by North Notts Bird Ringing Group, learn how to identify the different ducks, geese and swans on the Main Lake, talk to a friendly angler about coarse fishing, find out which baits for which fish, rods and fish characters, have a go at sailing on the Main Lake, enjoy a ramble with the Reserve Ranger and learn what it’s like working for wildlife and do some den building. There will also be lots of family activities such as nature crown and jewellery making, cone bird feeders, wildlife word game, acorn and conker planting, and much more.

A tombola and home-made cakes and hot drinks will also be on offer at this free event plus, after all the action, a nice relaxed sit by the lakeside!

The Friends will later in the month be joining the Nottinghamshire Fungi Group for a Fungi Foray on Sunday 15th October starting at 10.00am and finishing at 12.30pm. This is a free to join family event with a chance to learn all about fungi and fungi treasures to be found at Daneshill Lakes.
