Recently Clarborough Church have started a series of ‘Messy Church’ sessions for Key Stage 1 and 2 children, to coincide with the important festivals in the church calendar. The first was harvest festival last autumn, the second was to celebrate the coming of the three kings at Epiphany, and future sessions this year will celebrate the birthday of the patron saint John the Baptist (in June) and harvest once again (in September).
Easter, however, will be a little different! For the past two years they’ve had an Easter Eggstravaganza, which is basically a fun filled afternoon of quizzing and hunting for Easter Eggs, playing games and craft activities and this will happen again this year on Easter Sunday. There will be lots of fun things to do, including decorating biscuits, making Easter bonnets out of newspapers (yes really!) skittles, splat the rat and of course the main event — searching for hidden quiz questions around the church, answering as many as possible to win an Easter egg to take home. Of course, there will also be fun activities based on the Christian story, teaching children in a fun way about Jesus and Easter. At the end of the afternoon there’ll be a picnic tea for everyone to share.
Please visit the church at 2.00pm to take part in this fun and completely free afternoon. Everyone is welcome.
