Retford Art Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and will be holding its annual autumn art exhibition at the prestigious St Swithun’s Church. Members will exhibit from Thursday 11th to Saturday 27th October, open daily from 11.00am to 4.00pm. They boast a great number within their society and will be celebrating the 50th anniversary with a sit-down meal at the Markham Moor Inn.
The society encourages all with an interest in art, they have two exhibitions a year, art demonstrations monthly at the Post-16 Centre, studio sessions at Swan Studios on Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons and real life drawing on a Wednesday evening. The society hosts art workshops in different mediums led by experience artists, outdoor painting days at a local venue along with art critique sessions and social events like trips and meals within the society. Members welcome all abilities and pride themselves on being a very friendly and welcoming society.
Have you seen the murals around Retford? Retford Art Society, led by chairman Andy Massey, was a part of that initiative too.
