Reverend Kate Bottley joined a MasterChef style cook-off to celebrate the official opening of Carr Hill Primary School’s new community kitchen. Cooking with three families who submitted recipes that reminded them of a special person, Gogglebox star Kate shared stories of her experience on Celebrity MasterChef. Ever the joker, Kate told children not to play with their food whilst juggling peppers and generally created a joyous atmosphere — a million miles away from the pressure of MasterChef.
Headteacher, Sally Alford said she was grateful to the Lottery Community Fund for helping realise a long-term dream to have a purpose-built kitchen for children and families to cook and eat together.
Children entered a competition to cook with Kate and the three lucky winners spent the afternoon creating their favourites from chicken pizza fit for the Gruffalo, milk chocolate cake from a centenary edition of the Be-ro book and Italian inspired veggie eggy lasagne.
Cutting the ribbon to officially open the kitchen, Kate said how thrilled she was to be invited to Carr Hill Primary School to work with such delightful children and their parents. There were no disasters, only delicious food to try at the end.
