Did you realise that you have a Farmers’ Market in Retford? It has been running continuously on the third Saturday of every month since Autumn 2000, from 8.30am to approximately 1.00pm. At the moment, the Farmers’ stalls are to be found near to Argos in the Market Place.
There about 12 stalls selling a very wide variety of items. Pork products come from the award-winning Redhill Farm near Gainsborough; all traditional English fruit plus jams, preserves and honey from Goacher’s at Wheatley; Lincolnshire Poacher cheeses now famous world-wide; various kinds of flour and cereals made at Tuxford Mill; Lime Tree Pantry pies from Edwinstowe; cakes from Grove Road Kitchen, locally made bread, jam and fudge plus the Fishcake man from Grimsby (he sells out every month)! As is obvious, everything is either grown or prepared just a stone’s throw from Retford. No long distance travelling, so as fresh as possible! All stallholders are knowledgeable about their products so customers can ask as many questions as they wish. Support your local farmers and taste the difference.
