The award winning Retford Amateur Operatic Society are bringing to Retford, the story of ‘the greatest show on earth’. Following on from the popularity of the film ‘The Greatest Showman’, this local company would like to share with you the magic of PT Barnum who amazed audiences with his wonderful curiosities and unusual characters.
Set in the mid 1800s — Barnum is full of spectacle and humbug. Sometimes with Charity’s support and sometimes despite her objections, Barnum works with his wife to create unbelievable attractions in a variety of ways — from an American museum in New York City to a national tour featuring the beautiful singer Jenny Lind. Barnum also meets Joice Heth — the oldest woman alive and Tom Thumb, the smallest man in the world. The musical is, as a circus, loud, brash and colourful — a joyful ride of laughter.
Running from 9th to 11th May at the Majestic Theatre, tickets are on sale now online at www.majesticretford.com or by calling the booking office on 01777 706866. For a truly spectacular evening — book now!
