Welcome to the Retford Ladybirds —a vibrant, welcoming group founded by Karen Swift, who took a leap of faith when she found herself longing for friendship and a social life. Karen’s open invitation on Facebook led to 16 women joining her for the very first night out, sparking a flood of fresh ideas and new connections.
Three years on, our group has grown to over 780 members and continues to flourish with an abundance of activities and friendship circles. What began as a gathering of strangers has blossomed into lasting bonds and joyful experiences. Members have shared many adventures together, from weekends away to holidays in Benidorm, Crete and Malta, garden parties, concerts, festivals, cinema and theatre nights, making memories that truly last.
They’re proud to offer something for everyone, including two very active walking groups, and a wide range of other groups: Craft and Chat, Readers Group, Sunday Lunch Club, Midweek Dinner Group, their core ‘Natter’ meetings, Learn to Crochet, and much, much more. Whether you’re seeking laughter, support, or new experiences, you’ll find a place to belong here.
The mission of Retford Ladybirds remains simple: to age disgracefully, embracing life’s opportunities, cherishing adventure, and encouraging one another to live boldly and joyfully. They look forward to sharing stories, updates, and new opportunities to get involved, celebrating the spirit and camaraderie that make their group so special.
