Village Harmony is a mixed-voice choir based in Sturton-le-Steeple, near Retford. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.00pm at Sturton Hall, Brickings Way, Sturton-le-Steeple, DN22 9HY, in preparation for concert performances. The choir holds its own concerts in July and December at Sturton Hall to raise funds for local charities and also performs at other venues when invited. The repertoire is wide-ranging, from musicals to folk songs and everything in between.
Whether you are an alto, soprano or tenor, there is a place for you in the choir. There is no requirement to be able to read music, although it is always an advantage. What really matters is enthusiasm. The first rehearsal of the year takes place on Monday 2nd February at 7.30pm, when work will begin on the summer programme. Anyone interested in joining is warmly encouraged to go along to one of the first few rehearsals, where you will be assured of a very warm welcome. Prospective members are given a few weeks free of charge to decide whether Village Harmony is right for them before paying subscriptions and becoming fully paid-up members.
Ladies receive a uniform blouse to wear with a black jacket and black skirt or trousers, while gentlemen are provided with a bow tie to wear with a white shirt, black jacket and black trousers. Music is provided, although members are asked to have their own black folders to keep it in.
