Ordsall Parish Hall is set to come alive with the sounds of Flatworld, the January Live & Local show taking place on Saturday 10th January at 7.30pm.
This talented five-piece band, featuring oboe, violin, guitars, percussion and vocals, deliver a rich and lively mix of Eastern European folk music and more. Their compelling melodies and tight, driving rhythms guarantee an evening where feet will be tapping and spirits lifted.
Flatworld take traditional tunes and songs from across Eastern Europe and beyond, reworking them into fresh, accessible arrangements that delight audiences of all ages. Following a string of sell-out performances on their first Live & Local tour, they’re now embarking on their second – bringing their infectious energy to intimate venues across the region. BBC Radio Shropshire described it as ‘brilliant… like The Ukrainians meet klezmer’.
Tickets, which include hot food during the interval, are priced at £16.00 for adults and £7.00 for under-17s. To book, contact Peter on 01777 706433 or 07951 253343, or Alison on 01777 700220. The venue is Ordsall Parish Hall, Church Lane, DN22 7TU. The hall is fully accessible, and a warm welcome is guaranteed.
To round off the month, a change of tempo arrives on Saturday 31st January at 7.30pm when Jonny and Lynnette return for their ninth appearance at the hall. Expect a night of traditional country music and good-humoured banter. Tickets for this event are £12.00 for adults and £6.00 for under-17s, available from the same contact numbers.
