Retford Athletic Club sits at the heart of the local running community, bringing together people of all ages and abilities who share a love of running and fitness. Whether training for a first 5K, chasing a new personal best, or simply wanting to stay active and meet new people, everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome.
Members often describe Retford AC as more than just a running club – it feels like family. Training together builds confidence, motivation and lasting friendships. The club celebrates every achievement, big or small, and supports one another every step of the way.
Based at Oaklands in Retford, the club benefits from excellent facilities including a running track, field space and access to scenic local routes. Training sessions take placenevery Monday and Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and newcomers are always encouraged to go along and join in.
The club’s junior section continues to thrive, with young athletes training and competing across a range of disciplines.
Their enthusiasm and energy bring real pride to the club. However, with the junior section growing rapidly, more volunteers are needed to help coach and support sessions. Experience as an athlete isn’t required – just enthusiasm, encouragement and a willingness to make a difference. Support and training are provided for new volunteers, and the role is both enjoyable and rewarding.
Anyone interested in joining Retford Athletic Club or volunteering with the junior section can visit their website, email secretary.retfordac@gmail.com or go along to a training evening. At Retford AC, it’s not just about running – it’s about friendship, community and supporting one another every step of the way.
