As autumn gives way to winter, Clays Gardening Club is looking ahead to a trio of meetings designed to keep green fingers active and inspire fresh ideas for the 2026 growing season.m On Monday 17th November, the Club is thrilled to welcome husband-and-wife team Martin and Jill Fish with their talk ‘Gardening on the Menu – The Winter Table’. Blending Martin’s expert gardening know-how with Jill’s creative cookery, they’ll show how to make the most of seasonal produce. Expect a warm, friendly evening packed with practical tips, recipe sheets to take home, and even a few tempting tasters!
December brings a festive favourite on Monday 1st December, when the Club’s ever-popular Christmas wreath-making evening returns. This much-loved event is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit — an opportunity to craft a beautiful wreath, enjoy mince pies and a tipple, and share some seasonal cheer with fellow gardening club members.
The new year begins on Monday 19th January 2026 with a fascinating talk from Joe Bagley on ‘Cacti and Succulents’. Ideal for plant lovers, Joe will explore the history and intriguing facts behind these resilient plants, offering expert care advice on plants such as Aloe Vera, Sansevieria, Yucca, ZZ Plants, Amaryllis, and of course, cacti themselves.
At every meeting, visitors can browse the ‘Green Table’, where donated plants, seeds, books, and gardening tools are sold to raise funds for local charities — contributions are always appreciated.
