Creswell Crags and its many inhabitants

The North Nottinghamshire Local Group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust continues its theme on local wildlife with a look at Creswell Crags and its many inhabitants through the ages – starting with the Ice Age and bringing us right up to modern times.

The October speaker will be Dr David Glynn Fox, a popular and regular visitor to the group. Creswell Crags, as well as being a beautiful place, is important for its evidence of Ice Age life and early humans, its rock art and its witch marks. David will explain the formation of the Crags through glacial action and its pre-history when Neanderthals lived there. He will also describe the hyenas, woolly rhinos, bears, lions, witches and other creatures that have lived there at different times. The talk will conclude with a look at present-day wildlife, including wildflowers, birds, mammals, butterflies and moths.

The meeting will take place at the Idle Valley Centre on Thursday 9th October at 7.15pm. Entry is £3.00 and includes tea and biscuits. All are welcome and there is no need to book.
