We CAAN is a charity-based initiative providing a space for children and adults with additional needs to be themselves. This space is currently made possible through the generosity of St Giles School in Retford. As this edition goes to press, the group is holding its second session of the summer holidays. Exciting activities are planned, including biscuit decorating and a variety of sensory crafts. New equipment has also been purchased with funds raised by LCSD Dance Academy, ranging from a tickle tube to light-up Lego.
There was immense excitement when the We CAAN crew discovered they had been shortlisted for the BBC Radio Nottingham Make a Difference Award – and even more when they learned they had made the final! Frantic dress and shoe shopping is now underway for the awards evening, which will take place in September. The group wishes to thank their secret nominator for the recognition. So much work and love go into the sessions, and it is wonderful to feel appreciated. Photos from the evening will be shared in a future edition.
We CAAN looks forward to meeting new families and reconnecting with old friends.
