Join Retford Library staff for an evening of pure calm and relaxing reading. Bring along the book you are reading and enjoy a peaceful hour in the beautiful heritage room. There will be time to chat about what you are reading, as well as to enjoy some refreshments. Tickets £3.00 to include refreshments. Booking is essential.

 

Retford Library’s Crime Café

Tuesday 9th September, 10.00am to 11.30am

Join Retford Library staff for coffee and a chat about your favourite or latest crime or mystery reads. This is a great opportunity to get new recommendations from staff and others, and to share your own favourites. Try any of the titles discussed with a free reservation. Heritage Open Day

Saturday 13th September

View historical photographs and documents relating to local buildings from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Free and drop in and heritage talks on the day:

  • The Architecture of the Chesterfield Canal by Rod Auton – 11.00am to 12.00pm
  • Architectural Curiosities of Retford by Michael Tagg – 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Celebrating Jane

A talk by Rob White to celebrate 250 years of Jane Austen. Rob’s sell-out April talk was well received by all who attended. Keep Calm and Carry Yarn

Thursdays 4th and 18th September, 1.30pm to 3.00pm

Thursdays 11th and 25th September, 2.00pm to 4.00pm

Fortnightly sessions. Come along, listen and share. An informal, friendly group with members at different stages of the writing process, including beginners.

 

Rattle Rhyme and Roll

Wednesdays and Fridays, 10.00am to 10.20am

Stories and rhymes for the under-5s in the children’s library. Just turn up and join in the fun.

 

Summer Reading Challenge
