Retford Textile Group

The kids are back at school, and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. Maybe that gives parents or grandparents free time to pursue activities they want to engage in. Or, perhaps it’s a chance to escape the world news and the relentless technology. Either way, it’s a well-known fact that doing something artistic and practical can help improve mental health.

During the summer holiday, Retford Textile Group has been putting together an exciting and varied textile programme of events for the coming year. The aim is to develop a new textile skill each month, and the group welcomes all ability levels and age ranges to the monthly Wednesday evening class at Grove Street Methodist Church, Retford. The class runs from 6.30pm or 7.00pm.

The group is not linked to any particular organisation and runs on a not-for-profit basis, often providing materials at cost price. As a result, membership fees are kept really low. In fact, the first session is £5.00. On Wednesday 3rd September, the group will be wet felting a three-dimensional form.

The group is also excited to announce its first exhibition and Christmas sale at Retford Library in November / December, where they will showcase some of the work of their talented members, makers, and designers.
