June proved to be an action-packed month for local rider Scott Stone, who competed in Rounds 3 and 4 of the No Limits Premier 1000cc Championship.
The month began at Croft Circuit, near Darlington. Scott secured second place in his class in a dry Race 1. In Race 2, he delivered a superb, controlled ride to achieve an emphatic class win and fourth place overall on a track made treacherous by standing water after heavy rainfall. He was leading his class comfortably and running sixth overall in Race 3 until a mechanical failure – the bolt securing the gear lever sheared – forced him to retire on the penultimate lap.
Later in the month, Scott was back in action at Donington Park on the GP circuit. Race 1 was red-flagged following a strong start and impressive early laps. In the shortened restart, he was riding well but suffered a rare crash while attempting an overtake. After swift repairs to his AMCO Yamaha R1, Scott started Race 2 from 23rd on the grid. A phenomenal start and determined riding saw him overtake 12 riders on the first lap alone. He eventually finished second in class and ninth overall, setting a new personal best on his penultimate lap. Race 3 brought another strong performance, with Scott starting from the third row of the grid and engaging in ten laps of closely fought racing against Premier class rivals. He finished third in class and ninth overall. Despite the setbacks, Scott continues to lead the championship standings by a narrow margin.
