Annette from the Oasis Community Centre in Kilton, Worksop, recently spoke at a meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Retford, where members were amazed to learn about the centre’s impressive gardens, greenhouses and facilities. A group subsequently visited Oasis and received a warm welcome. Alongside coffee and scones, they were able to see first-hand the wide range of activities taking place.
At the start of July, NPAC (National Police Aid Charity) has organised a tractor ride followed by a strawberry cream tea at the farm of a local strawberry grower. The group also recently held a baby bundle packing day at a member’s home, and a fundraising afternoon tea – also at a member’s house – to raise money for baby bundle items. These bundles are assembled and sent via NPAC to Zambia and The Gambia.
In addition, the Club supported Ranskill and Torworth WI at their flower festival at St Barnabas Church, Ranskill. The theme, A Celebration of English Summer, was beautifully interpreted by ‘Flowers by Kay’ of Ranskill, whose display was widely admired. Proceeds from the festival are in aid of the church.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday 10th July. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to email retfordiwc@gmail.com.
