Retford Lions recently brought joy to a local boy named Alan, a pupil at St Giles School, Retford, by purchasing a sensory cuddle box to support him with his complex health needs. Alan, who is almost non-verbal, was nominated for the support, which was unanimously agreed upon by the Retford Lions.
Club President Maureen Lilley, accompanied by Lions Sue and Bob Crampton, visited Alan at home to present the cuddle box. Alan responded enthusiastically, enjoying both play and quiet moments with the box. Once Alan has outgrown the cuddle box, it will be returned to the school so another child can benefit from its use.
Following the success of last year’s Last Night at the Proms concert at Retford Town Hall, Retford Lions are finalising plans for a repeat event featuring the same artists. Further details, including ticket information, will be shared once confirmed.
Looking ahead, July will see one of the club’s most prestigious events, the annual Ted Waterfield Memorial Tournament, held at Retford Golf Club. Teams from across the country will compete in what promises to be a highly competitive and enjoyable day – weather permitting.
