Members of the Retford Inner Wheel Club joined the Inner Wheel Club of Sutton-in Ashfield for their 80th Charter Anniversary Luncheon. A delightful meal was followed by at least 50 ladies from the Major Oak Pop Choir singing modern pop songs. Everyone attending was given a small oak sapling (symbolising strength, endurance and longevity) to plant, which was a lovely surprise.
Retford Inner Wheel entered the Rotary Swimathon and were very successful. Their team was cross-generational and the children swimming suggested the charity that Inner Wheel would support this year could be Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. This proved a popular choice. One of the team’s young swimmers received the trophy for swimming the most lengths for a primary aged school child and everyone at the Inner Wheel Club of Retford is very proud of her achievement.
At the last meeting, the Club welcomed District Chairman Lyn Copper. Lyn is being sponsored to shave her head in support of Derbyshire Young Carers Association, her charity of the year.
