Following an informative and engaging talk on the origins of Easter customs at their last meeting, the North Wheatley History Group will next gather on Monday 19th May at 10.00am. Chris Hewis will present a light-hearted talk on ‘Wedding Customs’.

An additional event open to all will be held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Monday 12th May. This will feature an illustrated talk by Graham Turnbull entitled ‘A Soldier’s Tale’, which recounts the wartime experiences of Corporal Bert Turnbull. The talk begins at 7.00pm, with doors opening at 6.45pm, at South Wheatley Village Hall. Admission is £4.00 and refreshments will be available.

New members are always welcome. The History Group meets bi-monthly on the third Monday at 10.00am in the Village Hall, South Wheatley. Arrangements are underway for a museum trip, and future talks are expected to include Remembrance of the Great War and Things That Go Bump in the Night later in the year.
