The local branch the Royal British Legion continues to organise the armed force community coffee mornings which are proving to be very successful. It is good to see so many attending. These events are now held on the first Wednesday of the month in The Ridyard Room at the Well on Hospital Road, Retford and run from 10.30am to 12.30pm. As a consequence, there will be fewer you branch meetings. The next branch meeting will be held at Babworth Road Sports and Social club on Monday 2nd June at 7.15pm.
On Friday 25th April there will be a fundraising quiz at Babworth Road Sports and Social Club. Doors open at 7.00pm for 7.30pm start. This has become an annual event and is lighthearted and fun. The maximum number in each team is six and the charge will be £3.00 per person. There will be nibbles and there is a bar at the venue. There will also be a raffle and cash prizes. It is hope that there will be a Legion stall on Charter Day, so call and have a chat on the day.
Along with the rest of the country, the local branch will be holding an act of remembrance at the War Memorial on Thursday 8th May at 10.45am to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. Various organisations are planning events to mark this occasion so watch out for details.
