By the time this article is read, March will already be here, and two months of the year will have passed. Retford Mayflower WI has a packed programme for 2025.
The year 2024 concluded with a festive karaoke Christmas gathering, refreshments, a competition for the best party headwear, and the Secret Santa draw.
The 2025 programme began on Wednesday 8th January with a talk from Keith Hanson, titled Tales from the Tower. Keith, a former warder at the Tower of London for 22 years, gave a fascinating presentation on the history and expansion of the Tower. His engaging talk and PowerPoint presentation captivated everyone, leading to numerous requests for a return visit, as he covers other aspects of the Tower’s history.
On 12th February, Mark Cantrill, a rural vicar serving multiple churches in the area, shared insights into Life in Clerical Shirts. Mark makes all his own shirts, with fabrics often reflecting places he has visited. His talk was both informative and entertaining.
On Wednesday 12th March at 7.30pm, Chris Abbott will present The Lighter Side of Vet Nursing. Those interested are encouraged to attend at Stephen House on Chapelgate. Newcomers are welcome, with the first visit free, and a warm reception guaranteed.
