The Clays Gardening Club’s biennial Scarecrow competition and Open Garden event will return this year and villagers in North and South Wheatley and Sturton-le-Steeple will welcome visitors into their gardens on Sunday 8th June.
More details will follow, but in the meantime the club is looking for volunteers who would like to open their gardens for the event. You don’t have to be a garden club member; gardens can be any size and style and they don’t have to be neat and pristine. So, whatever your plot whether big or small, a haven for wildlife, a formal garden or veg plot, a patio or family garden, then the club would love to hear from you.
Before then, there’s a full programme of club events to enjoy, with the return of Geoff Hodge on Monday 17th February who will be talking ‘All About Propagation’ and on Monday 17th March find out about achieving a good lawn with Howard Drury. Coming up, there’s trips to Aubourn Hall Gardens in Lincolnshire, the RHS Garden Show at Wentworth and the long-awaited visit to David Austin Roses.
