The Grove and Hallcroft Methodist Churches extend their warmest wishes for a happy and peaceful 2025. These two churches form the Methodist presence in Retford. While operating as separate units, they come together for certain services, social events, and shared moments of worship and work.
The Methodist Christmas Campaign encouraged all to ‘Hush the noise’, allowing for reflection and participation in the ‘love song of Christmas’. Events at both churches provided moments of quiet amidst the season’s busyness.
Hallcroft Church marked its 65th anniversary with a celebration service led by Rev Peter Sheasby, followed by a celebratory lunch. Meanwhile, The Grove hosted several events, including the Retford Art Society Autumn Exhibition and the Star Festival, which captivated many with its entertainers, school visits, and displays.
Musical performances by the Nottinghamshire Police Band and a modern dance interpretation of the journey of the three kings by the Springs Dance Company added to the festivities. The Nativity Service, Christingle, and Blue Christmas service provided opportunities for both joy and reflection during the season.
Looking ahead to 2025, both churches resume their regular weekly, fortnightly, and monthly activities. For more information on either church, visit www.the-grove.co.uk, find the churches on Facebook or phone Clare Biddle, Facilities and Community Manager, on 07895 553224.
