Bassetlaw Food Bank (BFB) is seeking new board members to play a key role in shaping how the charity operates. But what exactly does it mean to be a trustee?
A trustee is a volunteer who works alongside the senior leadership team, overseeing the charity by:
- Ensuring the charity fulfils its purposes for public benefit.
- Complying with the charity’s governing document and legal requirements.
- Acting in the charity’s best interests.
- Managing resources responsibly.
- Acting with reasonable care and skill.
- Ensuring accountability.
What is BFB looking for in a trustee?
- Commitment to the cause.
- Approximately six hours each month.
- Strategic thinkers.
- The ability to ask insightful, analytical questions.
- A basic understanding of, or willingness to learn about, charity finances and governance.
- Open-mindedness.
- A drive to make a positive impact in the Bassetlaw community.
