Retford Charter Day – 5th May 2025

by | 20 September 2024 | Community Event, Retford

Following this year’s hugely successful event, which attracted over 6,000 people, the Retford Charter Day Organising Committee is already busy planning next year’s event. The core theme will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

While some committee members are returning to handle key tasks, volunteers are sought for the following roles:

  • Social Media Lead: Responsible for managing social media output to promote the event across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be proactive, capable of creating engaging promotional materials, and skilled at attracting sponsorship.
  • Sponsorship Lead: To spearhead the sponsorship campaign to fund the event, which costs over £11,000 to organise. Although there is some revenue from trading activities and local authority sponsorship, additional funds are needed to ensure the event’s sustainability. Organisers are seeking candidates with experience in fundraising and securing sponsorship from private companies and grant-making bodies.
  • Health and Safety Lead: To develop comprehensive health and safety documentation required for an event of this scale. The documentation must meet rigorous standards and be approved by relevant public bodies. Given that over 6,000 people typically attend, health and safety is a top priority.

If you are interested in contributing to this significant community event and meet the requirements for any of these lead roles, please contact the Organising Committee at retfordcharterday24@outlook.com to arrange a discussion.
