Oasis Community Gardens is alive with colour and the beautiful spring flowers and plans are underway to celebrate the wonder of the springtime and the hard work of so many in the community in a month-long Festival of Flowers.
Many people and groups have helped to plant bulbs, plants, trees and seeds in the gardens and the result of every bulb is now there for all to see. There have already been snowdrops, crocus beds and daffodils but more are to come and the tulips will also take their place during the Festival.
Oasis staff and volunteers invite you to visit them and see the gardens for yourself, and maybe have a slice of cake or a cup of tea and look around at the same time.
Last year Oasis won funding from ‘The People’s Project’, an initiative from The National Lottery Community Fund, The National Lottery, ITV, UTV and the Sunday Mail in Scotland. Thanks to votes from local people, they won a top place. This funding is enabling them to do several months of community celebrations this year starting with this ‘Festival of Flowers’ and then with a huge ‘Circus Tent’ and a ‘Festival of Community Arts’ across the month of July.
OASIS is a ‘Heart for the Community in the Heart of the Community!’.

Flower Workshops will be on throughout the month – card making with pressed flowers, making table arrangements, flower arranging, summer bulb planting, pots and planters. A selection of plants, flowers and craft items will also be on sale in the Oasis Café.
