In January, members of Mayflower WI plus four visitors to the group enjoyed a talk on handbell ringing by Andy and Sarah.
Handbells can be used to ring methods and tunes, with tunes being the easier. They are cast and made the same as church bells and Andy and Sarah’s set was by Gillet and Johnson. The gathering was split into two groups so that everyone could have a go at ringing ‘bing’ forwards and ‘bong’ backwards!
In February a WI welcome was extended to Emily, a deacon at the Crossing in Worksop, to talk about her life. On 13th March there will be a talk on ‘Optical Health’ by a staff member from Specsavers.
Visitors and prospective members are always welcome to the monthly meetings, held in Stephen House on Chapelgate at 7.30pm. If you’re interested in joining, go along and meet the ladies, and enjoy the evening and refreshments.
