Regular glass expert on the BBC Antiques Roadshow Andy McConnell will be the guest speaker at The Arts Society Dukeries’ Study / Special Interest Day on Wednesday 16th March at the Civic Centre in Carlton in Lindrick.
Members and guests are invited to listen to three talks on this day, which is titled ‘Bottoms up! The Story of Wine, Its Rituals and Glasses’.
Places cost £30.00 for the day, which starts at 11.00am (doors opening at 10.30am for coffee) and finishes at approximately 3.00pm. To find out more and book your place contact the society.
The Arts Society Dukeries is for those interested in ‘the arts’ in all its forms. They are the local group of a National Arts Association, and have monthly lecture meetings at the Civic Centre, Carlton, as well as these extra Special Interest days, trips out to places of interest, newsletters, a national magazine and a holiday for members.

‘Frost Fairs on the Frozen Thames’ – Nicholas Reed
There were four major Frost Fairs held on the Thames between 1621 and 1814. They were depicted by distinguished foreign and British artists, sketched in prints and drawings, and described in great detail.

The Society meet for lectures at the Civic Centre, Long Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, S81 9AP. Tea and coffee is available from 10.00am and lectures are 11.00am to 12.00pm. There is free car parking.
