East Markham WI’s Bric-a-Brac stall at the Church Christmas Fair was another successful fundraising event. The Christmassy stalls were full-to-bursting with something for all tastes and budgets and, despite the poor weather, the event was very well attended. The branch would like to thank all who contributed and helped man the stall on the day.
Christmas wreath-making has become a regular event in the December calendar and a group of members gathered mid-month for a fun-filled afternoon. Seasonal music played as wreaths were assembled from the shared greenery and the decorations brought by members to personalise their handiwork. Festive refreshments were served as members looked at the completed wreaths. All were different; there were pine cones, baubles, flowers, feathers, ribbons, a mini-Santa, candles and lights. They made a wonderful festive display and would go on to decorate many tables and front doors.
Sadly, the Christmas party was cancelled due to concerns about the rise in COVID infections. The branch looks forward to 2022 with hope for a return to normal meetings, depending on the virus situation and government regulations and guidelines.
